ANKARA (AA) - Turkish State Minister Kursad Tuzmen has stated today (Wednesday) that applying quota on certain Chinese products is essential for protection of the Turkish domestic economy.
Participating in a press conference after a meeting with the World Trade Organization, Tuzmen told reporters that the Chinese authorities have requested from Turkey to find joint solutions and compromise on certain aspects of the economy.
''The steps taken by Turkey about quotas on Chinese products are identical to those taken by the United States,'' remarked Tuzmen. ''The products of the textile and ready-to-wear industries have a prominent place within our economy. These sectors deserve high attention. We will continue working according to the regulations of the World Trade Organization and the Customs Union agreement with the European Union.''
