ANKARA (AA) - Turkish and Iraqi officials met in Turkish capital of Ankara yesterday (Tuesday) to discuss safety of Turkish citizens trading with Iraq, Namik Tan, spokesman of Turkish Foreign Ministry, said on Wednesday.
Tan told weekly press briefing that Turkish and Iraqi authorities met in Ankara as a meeting of the monitoring group of tripartite ''Transportation Security Forum'' formed by Turkish, Iraqi and U.S. officials on November 30th.
Technical talks between Turkish and Iraqi authorities would also continue tomorrow (Thursday), Tan said.
Tan noted that participants debated measures that could be taken to minimize threats against Turkish citizens trading with Iraq.
A coordination meeting would be held at the Turkish Foreign Ministry later today (Wednesday) with participation of representatives of concerned institutions, Tan added.
