JEDDAH (AA) - Prof. Dr. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, who will take over the Secretariat General of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) today (Tuesday), said that the Organization would play an active role in resolution of problems in the world.
Ihsanoglu, who met his predecessor Abdelouahed Belkeziz in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, told reporters, ''we had a very important and detailed meeting with Mr. Belkeziz. I have received detailed information about several problems that the Islam world have faced in four years. We discussed political and administrative situation of the organization.''
Noting that reforms would be made to enable the OIC to work more efficiently, Ihsanoglu said that the organization would deal with global problems and reflect the view of Islam world.
Regarding recent prejudice in Europe against Islam, Ihsanoglu said, ''we are very interested in problems of Muslims. We have to find remedies. We should contact the European Union and take measures.''
Ihsanoglu added that he would send a delegation to Palestine to monitor presidential elections to be held on January 9th, 2005.
