LEFKOSA (AA) - Prime Minister Mehmet Ali Talat of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) said, ''we want solution and we are sincere. So we do not have the intention to take action for resolution according to the results of upcoming elections.''
Prior to the TRNC Council of Ministers meeting on Thursday, Talat told reporters, ''we have entered pre-elections period. Cyprus question is brought onto agenda at the same time. I believe 2005 will bring new developments and discussions about Cyprus issue.''
''I would like to emphasize that the TRNC does not intend to take action according to the results of upcoming elections regarding Cyprus issue,'' said Talat.
Talat noted, ''we are always ready to take part in Cyprus process which is the most important issue for us. By showing the elections as a pretext, there will not be any weakness in our international activities and our studies about Cyprus issue.''
Talat said, ''the basic thing for us is an agreement which protects equality of the parties in the island and also Turkish Cypriots' rights on basis of a united Cyprus.''
