ANKARA - Eight soldiers were killed and 14 others were wounded Saturday in an attack staged by PKK terrorist on a military outpost in Semdinli town of the southeastern province of Hakkari.
An information note posted in the official website of the Turkish General Staff said a group of terrorists attacked a military outpost in Semdinli at around 02:00 a.m.
The General Staff said 8 soldiers were killed and 14 others were wounded in the attack. 12 terrorists were killed by Turkish soldiers during the skirmish.
The wounded soldiers were rushed to hospitals. Reinforcements were dispatched to the area. Turkish artillery shelled the possible escape routs while helicopters provided air support. Meanwhile, Turkish jets bombed the PKK terrorist camps in north of Iraq.
