The meeting of Catholic Leader Pope 16. Benedict who visited South Cyprus with the Head of TRNC Religious Affairs Yusuf Suicmez which was planned to be at 16:00 yesterday was prevented by the unnecessary excuses of the Greek Side.
Due to the delay of crossing of Suicmez at the Ledra Palace Gate for half an hour by the Greek Cypriot administration, Suicmez was forced to be late to the meeting at the Vatican Embassy which was planned to be at 16:00
Pope 16. Benedict participated in the ritual at 16:15 which was pre-planned at the Catholic Church near the Vatican Embassy in South Cyprus Suicmez waited until the end of the ritual however Pope moved to the airport just after the ritual therefore the historical meeting could not be realized.
Head of the Religious Affairs Yusuf Suicmez said that in spite of the fact that they informed the Greek Side about the plates of their car they were delayed at the check point therefore they were late to the meeting.
Indicating that religion encourages ecclesiastics to understand each other feel love and respect and tell good things about humanity Suicmez said that it was normal for the people to believe in different things however if this was not united with love and respect to the people the people could not feel the real soul, love and brotherhood under God .
Suicmez said: "Really our intention and the intention of the Pope were good. We wish to move towards good. We all should get a lesson from these. Turkish and Greek Cypriots are directed to the same God even if they have different beliefs. We shall all try to create the better things in future. We are ready to contribute to every effort which gives hope, we showed our intention."
