ANKARA - Chairman of Turkey's main opposition party called on government to disclose correspondence with Israel whether or not Israeli government warned Turkey before its raid on the Gaza aid convoy.
Republican People's Party (CHP) chairman Kemal Kilicdaroglu said his party wanted to know all the details about what happened before and after the Israeli raid, which killed nine people, eight Turks and an American of Turkish descent, and wounded nearly 30.
"People should know the truth. Did Israel warn [before its raid] or not?" Kilicdaroglu told news channel NTV.
Kilicdaroglu said some AK Party executives and government officials voiced different views whether to terminate contracts made earlier between Turkey and Israel, adding, "we recommend Mr. Prime Minister to look at incidents judiciously."
Stating that Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan was very harsh on Israel in his remarks after the Israeli raid on Gaza flotilla, Kilicdaroglu asked the ruling Justice & Development (AK) Party to do what was necessary after Erdogan's statements.
"Turkey's honor has been damaged. It has to be fixed," he said.
"You cannot pursue diplomacy with heroism. Foreign policy can be carried out using your mind and logic, just like a chess master," Kilicdaroglu said. "You have to see a move beforehand and take your measures."
