KOCAELI - Hyundai Assan, Turkish joint venture of carmaker Hyundai, will soon begin mass production of its i20 model cars for the European market, the company said on Friday.
Hyundai Assan will hold a ceremony on June 11 at its Izmit plant in northwest Turkey to mark the inauguration of i20 mass production.
The company made a total investment of $75 million for i20 manufacturing. It plans to build 80,000 unit five-door i20 cars a year.
Hyundai will ship i20 cars to European market only from its Turkey plant.
The Hyundai i20 is a supermini/subcompact car, made its debut at the Paris Motor Show in October 2008 and went on sale in December 2008 in India to fit between the i10 and i30.
