ISKENDERUN - The governor of the southern province of Hatay said Monday that six troops were killed and seven others were wounded after terrorists launched a rocket-attack on a military vehicle near a naval base in the town of Hatay.

Governor Mehmet Celalettin Lekesiz said, "members of the separatist terrorist organization attacked on a military vehicle carrying troops to their sentry posts in the naval logistics base with RPG-7 rocket launchers and long-range weapons at around 11:58 p.m. on Sunday."

"Six troops were killed and seven others were wounded in the attack. Three of them who are in life-threatening condition, were rushed to the GATA military academy hospital in capital Ankara," he added.

Earlier reports indicated that the attack was staged on the military installation itself.
