Talat: If Papadopoulos Government Envisages A Solution, It Can Be Reached Within 10 Months

LEFKOSA (AA) - ''During 10 months period until October 3rd, 2005, if Greek Cypriots leader Tassos Papadopoulos government envisages a solution, it can be reached,'' said Prime Minister Mehmet Ali Talat of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).
     Talat said, ''extension of Ankara Agreement without solving Cyprus problem does not mean a recognition of Cyprus republic. The real recognition can happen after resolution of Cyprus problem.''
     Holding a news conference, Talat said, ''the decision on Turkey at the EU Summit is a historical development. Turkey has been very successful. I congratulate the Turkish government and those who have contributed.''
     ''Turkey did its best to solve Cyprus problem. An important step was taken for Turkish Cypriots and Turkey. We will walk on this path together,'' he added.
     Stressing, ''we are ready to solve Cyprus problem within solidarity with Turkey,'' Talat said, ''Papadopoulos should show what they want, but he does not seem to be ready for solution.''
     Talat said, ''it is a fact that Ankara Agreement will contribute to solution of Cyprus problem. We prefer solution of Cyprus problem. If Cyprus problem is solved, Ankara Agreement extends without any difficulties.''
