ANKARA (AA) - Turkish State Institute of Statistics (DIE) proposed to increase the minimum wage to 422,059,064 Turkish liras (TL) on Tuesday (One dollar equals TL 1.38m).
     The Minimum Wage Commission held its third meeting to set the new minimum wage which will enter into force as of January 1st, 2005.
     During the meeting, DIE proposed to increase the minimum wage to 422,059,064 TL.
     The commission will convene again on December 28th.
     The Minimum Wage Fixing Commission is comprised of workers, employers and government representatives, respectively five each of them .
     While the Confederation of Turkish Labor Unions (Turk-Is) represents workers at the commission, employers are represented by the Confederation of Employers' Unions (TISK).
     The current net minimum wage is 303 million TL for workers who are older than 16 years.
