Turkish President Abdullah Gül has been delivering a four-day official visit to Pakistan for talks on economy with officials.
Arriving in the capital Islamabad on Tuesday, Gül was welcomed with great public interest and a 21-gun salute in a national military ceremony.
President Gül said that he "feels at home", referring to close relations between the two countries. Giving an interview with state television, Gül highlighted economic relations and counter-terrorism efforts.
"I congratulate the Pakistani administration and military for their success in the combat against terrorism. On all the political issues, we have common views and perfect relations. However, we need further economic cooperation and investments," said Gül.
During the visit, a series of agreements will be inked for boosting cooperation. Also, Gül will be awarded Pakistani state medal by his counterpart Zardari.
The Turkish President will then visit the Qaid-i-Azam University in the capital Islamabad and receive the title of honorary PhD.
Scheduled to attend a business forum that will feature Turkish and Pakistani businesspeople, Gül is expected to call for investment.
President Gül's busy agenda also includes a visit to Lahore city for talks with opinion leaders and the media.
