Dulger: It Is Not Possible To Put Forward The Cyprus Issue In Front Of Turkey As A Sine Qua Non Condition

BRUSSELS (AA) - ''It is not possible to put forward the Cyprus issue in front of Turkey as a sine qua non condition,'' Turkish Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Commission Chairman Mehmet Dulger said on Thursday.
     In an interview with the A.A correspondent, Dulger said, ''the EU admitted the Greek Cypriot side by violating its own principles. Now, it is obliged to resolve the problems stemming from membership of Greek Cypriots. Turkish party displayed its good will during the referenda in the island on April 24th. If there is a dispute, Turkey is not the source of it.''
     ''The issue of recognition of the Greek Cypriot side can be discussed by the Turkish party at the table under the existing authority limits. However, it is not possible to put forward the Cyprus issue in front of Turkey as a sine qua non condition. If we recognize the Cyprus republic, it means rejection of the Turkish entity in the island. December 18th will be the beginning of a new era to this end,'' he added.
