BRUSSELS (AA) - Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan had a phone conversation with British Prime Minister Tony Blair before his departure to Brussels, sources said on Thursday.
     Erdogan and Blair exchanged ideas and information pertaining to the European Union and the upcoming summit.
     Upon arriving in Brussels, Erdogan had a phone conversation with the Belgian Prime Minister Guy Verhofstadt.
     Erdogan was briefed by Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul on his meetings with foreign ministry officials and representatives of the Turkish Embassy in Brussels. Turkish Finance Minister Kemal Unakitan was also present at the briefing in which the most recent statements of French President Jacques Chirac were also discussed.
