Turkey's State Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Bülent Arınç said that Turkey is adhered to a line of democracy and law which comes standard with principles of the European Union.
Speaking to reporters ahead of his departure for Syria, Arinc evaluated the recent situation of democracy and law in Turkey.
Noting that Turkey catches up with the EU standards in this field, the Minister said that democratization and expanding sphere of freedom will be bolder in Turkey from now on.
"I hope that we never come across hurdles. All the social fragments in Turkey will enjoy further freedom," said Arınç.
Replying questions about Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's criticism of columnists, Arinc said "No one must bring to mind that a prime minister, being an experienced politician and former mayor who has been close to the media and defended freedom of the media more than anyone else, has directly targeted it," said Arinc.
The Deputy Premier also urged avoidance of crisis scenarios that could drag Turkey into political turmoil or economic stalemate.
