ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's national income has recently reached a new level making the Turkish economy one of the top ten in the European Union, said Turkish economic sources.
According to the Turkish State Planning Organization (DPT), Germany ranks first with its national income of 2,390,000,000 trillion U.S. dollars. Britain ranks second with a national income of 1.8 trillion U.S. dollars. Turkey, as a candidate for full EU membership, had a national income of 238.5 billion U.S. dollars in 2003.
Turkey's total national income exceeds the combined national income of eight new EU members, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Slovakia, Slovenia and Greek Cypriot administration. Furthermore, Turkey's national income is twice as much as the total combined national incomes of EU candidates Bulgaria, Romania and Croatia.
