KABUL, Dec 15 (AFP) - Afghan President Hamid Karzai condemned the murder of a Turkish road engineer who was abducted and later killed by suspected militants in eastern Afghanistan, a statement said Wednesday.
Karzai was "deeply saddened and angered by the killing of a Turkish engineer", the statement issued by the presidential palace said.
"I am angered that the enemies of Afghanistan have killed a brother and fellow Muslim in pursuit of their goal of disrupting reconstruction in Afghanistan," the statement said quoting Karzai as saying.
The president has ordered the security forces to bring "perpetrators" to justice, it added without saying who might had been behind the attack which took place in northeastern Kunar province early Wednesday.
The body of the Turkish engineer who was working on a US-funded road reconstruction project was found dead one day after he was abducted by unknown militants late Tuesday.
An Afghan driver and interpreter were kidnapped with him were released Tuesday night hours after they were snatched, Afghan officials said.
The abduction follows the kidnapping in late October of three United Nations employees -- Annetta Flanigan of Northern Ireland, Filipino Angelito Nayan and Shqipe Hebibi of Kosovo who were released after nearly one month in captivity.
