Ten Turkish tradesmen are reported to have been taken into custody on December 31 after their entry into Iran. Their vehicles and passports were also seized.
The state-run Anatolia news agency says that Mayor of Hakkari, Muammer Türker, has ordered Yüksekova head official to contact with Iranian authorities.
Later on Mayor Türker told reporters Iranian officials' response which claim that Turkish citizens were fuel smuggling. However Türker said the incident was related to a Iranian bus that was stoned previously in Hakkari's Yüksekova district.
The talks are continuing between Turkish and Iranian authorities concerning release of the detainees.
