Two Turkish passenger trains collided in Bilecik in northwest Turkey on Sunday morning. Reportedly, 1 machinist died and 13 others were injured, including 2 personnel.
The accident occurred when one of the trains ignored a signal to stop, according to the agencies. The train went through a signal where it should have halted and slammed into another train that was stopped on the line.
The Eski_ehir Express, which were shuttling between Istanbul and Eski_ehir were reported to have collided at 10:05 a.m. at Bayyrköy-Vezirhan district.
The engine driver is reported to have lost his life while two personnel have been injured.
11 passengers who have been slightly injured were hospitalized, according to a statement released by the State Railways (TCDD). The statement said all passengers have been transferred to other shuttles and an investigation has begun regarding the accident.
