Bush helps US firms in Libya

WASHINGTON, Dec 10 (AFP) - US President George W. Bush on Friday helped US companies doing business in Libya by easing tax restrictions, a reward for Tripoli's pledged to abandon weapons of mass destruction.
In a memorandum for Treasury Secretary John Snow, Bush waived a section of the US code that imposed restrictions on firms in Libya.
The president "concluded that the waiver is in our national interest and will expand trade and investment opportunities for US companies in Libya," said an administration official.
