Too early to say that influenza pandemic is over, says WHO adviser

GENEVA- World Health Organization (WHO) Special Adviser to the Director-General on Pandemic Influenza Dr Keiji Fukuda said Thursday that it is too early to call the pandemic as over.

Dr. Fukuda said, in a virtual press briefing today, that WHO cannot predict today that there would be an upsurge of the pandemic activity in the earlier part of 2010.
He added that 6 manufacturers and 12 countries have pledged 180 million dozes of vaccines to be distributed to approximately 95 countries. (end) hn.ajs KUNA 171818 Dec 09NNNN
