Atalay held a press briefing in Ankara where he said those responsible for the illegal protests of late have been brought to justice.
Minister Atalay said 1562 people were taken into custody during the protests and 363 of those were arrested.
Saying that they want more freedom and democracy for everyone, Atalay pointed out the necessity of a democratic environment in which all sorts of ideas, not violence, were discussed.
Noting that democratization can not be maintained where terrorism prevails, Minister Atalay said they have confidence in the nation's common sense in their combat against those, who intend to ruin the national unity.
Expressing their intention to support the military and the police forces for maintaining unity and integrity of the nation, the Interior Minister said with the democratic initiative, they aim to eliminate terror and raise democratic standards in the country.
Minister Atalay also told reporters that they are determined to keep the democratic drive process going, adding that they will speed up their efforts in the short, medium and long terms.
Works within the framework of Board of Human Rights and Fight against Discrimination will be concluded in the shortest time possible, and the matter will be taken up in the Parliament, as soon as the budget talks end, Atalay said.
Turkish Interior Minister said further the tripartite mechanism set up between Turkey, the US and Iraq will convene on December 21, 22 take up cross border terrorism.
