Gen Basbug: "main goal is to eliminate terrorism"

Chief of General Staff General İlker Başbuğ held a brief press conference on Oruç Reis Cruiser where he said Turkey has been fighting against the separatist terror organization since 1984 and that the main goal of Turkish Armed Forces is to bring terror to the lowest point in Turkey's agenda.

Stating that terrorists and their supporters want an agenda that is focused on blood and hate, General Başbuğ underlined that the Republic of Turkey is a state of law.

General Başbuğ noted that they respect differences but that does not necessarily grant the right to put differences to the forefront.

Stressing that peace in the society can be secured by strenghtening common values, General Başbuğ said the day is the day of unity and integrity.
