Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement that they have been following closely the developments on the matter, and urged Bulgarian government to show necessary efforts.
The Ministry statement reminded that "the matter should be resolved through dialogue within the framework of pluralist democracy principles and basic rights and freedoms."
Bulgarian ATAKA Party, which appeals to voters with its anti-Turkish politics, has long been running a campaign to ban a 10-minute daily news program in Bulgaria broadcast for the past 9 years.
Supporting the minority government in Bulgaria, ATAKA party asked the support of PM Boyko Borisov to push for a Parliament decision to hold referendum.
Prime Minister Boyko Borisov declared that he backed the referendum move by the nationalist party ATAKA.
