A 5- member group consisting of Swiss, French and Belgian jurists lodged a complaint with the European Court of Human Rights against the ban.

The petition written by the group says the ban on constructing minarets in Switzerland contravenes human rights.

The letters sent to the members of Swiss Federal Assembly each demand the ban conflicting with human rights is put right in the shortest time possible.

Swiss Justice Minister Eveline Widmer-Schlumpf has said she is going to make a statement after a verdict has been given in this regard by the European Court of Human Rights.
