Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan addressed at Johns Hopkins University in the United States following his 2-hour meeting with the US President Barack Obama.
In a nutshell, Premier Erdogan set out Turkey's foreign policy priorities and perspectives regarding hot spots of international agenda.
Calling for nuclear non-proliferation, Erdogan said "We are against nuclear armament in the world. We are also against nuclear arms both in Iran and its periphery countries. You must express this squarely: While telling Iran not to produce nuclear arms, what are we going to do about Israel as it posses nukes? Phosphor bombs were used in Gaza (in last December-January offense); kids who have been affected by phosphor bombs came to my country, I observed their conditions; as a father I felt deep sorrow when I saw them."
Regarding claims of a shift of axis in Turkish foreign policy, Prime Minister said Turkey is communicating with the West, North, South and the East, without being disregardful of their sensitivities.
"There is not a shift of axis; this is a true process of normalization. Turkey stands on its way. If there is such a shift of axis, it might be in the European Union" Prime Minister said. Erdogan highlighted full-membership to the European Union as a primary objective of Turkish foreign policy.
Premier Erdogan criticized the latest referendum in Switzerland underlying that individual rights cannot be ruptured or restricted.
