PRESIDENT GUL VISITS JORDAN
President Abdullah Gul, currently in Amman for an official visit accompanied by his wife Hayrunnisa, was welcomed yesterday by Jordan's King Abdullah and his wife Queen Rania with an official ceremony. After the ceremony, Gul and Abdullah had a meeting. Gul also attended a business council meeting. Also two agreements were signed yesterday as part of his visit, one to greatly relax visa requirements between the two countries and the other a free trade pact. /Hurriyet-Star/
TRNC'S TALAT VISITS ANKARA
Visiting Ankara yesterday, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) President Mehmet Ali Talat met with President Abdullah Gul, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu. During his meeting with Davutoglu, the ongoing negotiation process with Greek Cyprus side was discussed extensively. /Cumhuriyet/
PM DUE IN MEXICO NEXT WEEK
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan is reportedly set to pay a three-day official visit to Mexico starting next Tuesday. Erdogan is scheduled to meet with Mexican President Felipe Calderon on Wednesday. FM DAVUTOGLU ATTENDS OSCE SUMMIT IN GREECE
Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu yesterday separately met with his Azeri counterpart Elmar Memmedyarov and Armenian counterpart Edward Nalbandian before a Nagorno-Karabakh meeting in line with an Organization for Security in Europe (OSCE) Ministerial Council meeting. Meeting with Nalbandian, issues such as Turkish-Armenian relations and the approval process of protocols to thaw these ties were discussed. During his meeting with Memmedyarov, issues such the Armenian-occupied territory of Nagorno-Karabakh and Turkish-Azeri relations were discussed. /Milliyet/
DAVUTOGLU DUE IN BRUSSELS FOR NATO MEETING
Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu will arrive in Brussels tomorrow for a two-day NATO foreign ministers meeting. The Foreign Ministry said participants at the meeting would discuss both Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro's desire to pursue membership, as well as missile defense, Afghanistan, NATO-Russian relations, and the future of NATO. /Hurriyet Daily News/
ENERGY MINISTER YILDIZ SPEAKS AT TAIK MEETING IN ISTANBUL
At a luncheon in Istanbul hosted by the Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEIK) and Turkish-American Business Council (TAIK), Energy and Natural Resources Minister Taner Yildiz yesterday delivered a speech. DEIK Chairman Rona Yircali presented a plaque thanking Yildiz on behalf of his group and TAIK head Haluk Dincer. Yildiz said that mutual visits between Turkey and the US show the consistent and sustainable cooperation between the two countries. /Aksam/
