ANKARA - Turkey cancelled on Friday the nuclear power plant tender.

The Turkish Electricity Trading and Contracting Inc. (TETAS) cancelled the tender on construction and operation of Turkey's first nuclear power plant.

The incorporation held the tender on September 24, 2008. Only one participant, the Russian-Turkish "Atomstroyexport-Inter Rao-Park Teknik" Consortium, submitted an offer in the tender.

Turkey is planning to construct and operate its first nuclear power plant in Akkuyu region of the southern province of Mersin.

The tender on September 24, 2008 was the fourth one held for the first nuclear power plant of Turkey. The previous three tenders had failed.
