ISTANBUL - Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan congratulated new Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou over his election victory.

During his meeting with Finnish Prime Minister Matti Vanhanen, Erdogan made a phone conversation with Papandreou together with his Finnish counterpart. The two prime ministers congratulated Papandreou, sources said.

Greek leader invited Erdogan to his country, sources said.

About the meeting between Erdogan and Vanhanen, diplomats said that the two leaders discussed several issues from nuclear energy to Middle East. Erdogan informed Finnish prime minister about Turkey's relations with Syria and Turkey's stance over Iran's nuclear program.
