Islamic Organization Head Condems Massacre Of Christians

ANKARA - The head of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) condemned on Sunday the killing of Christians in Pakistan.
OIC Secretary General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu released a statement in which he condemned the killing of seven Christians in Pakistan.
"These attacks against the Christians are against Islam's principle of tolerance, and those involved in the attacks harmed Islam's image, advising protection of minorities who believe in other religions," Ihsanoglu said.
Ihsanoglu said also there were claims that Koran was insulted, and if the claims were accurate, they should also be condemned.
However, the violent reaction could not be tolerated, he said.
The secretary general said he was sure the Pakistani authorities would end the violence and restore peace and order.
Seven Christians were burned to death in Gojra city, in the west of Pakistan, on charges that they insulted Koran. One church and 40 houses were set ablaze. Ten Christians were wounded in the incidents.
