LEFKOSA - Celebrations have begun in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) to mark the 35th anniversary of the Peace Operation on July 20, 1974.
The first ceremony was held in Girne with the participation of TRNC President Mehmet Ali Talat, Parliament Speaker Hasan Bozer, Prime Minister Dervis Eroglu and other officials.
Turkish State Minister & Deputy Prime Minister Cemil Cicek and State Minister Egemen Bagis attended the ceremony on behalf of Turkey.
President Talat said that they commemorated all the people who lost their lives in the struggle of Turkish Cypriots. "We are moving forwards thanks to their self-sacrifice and with the sound support of Turkey. We are determined to set our future on these lands," he said.
