US soldier killed, three wounded in northern Baghdad

BAGHDAD, Dec 3 (AFP) - A US soldier was killed and three others wounded on Friday when an improvised explosive device exploded at around 4 pm (1300 GMT), US military sources said.
Earlier, a US soldier was killed and two others wounded when their convoy was attacked near the northern Iraqi city of Kirkuk, the military said.
The latest death brings to 984 the number of US soldiers killed in action since the invasion of Iraq in March 2003, according to a Pentagon tally.
