ANKARA - Local elections were repeated in 30 districts after the Higher Electoral Board (YSK) cancelled elections due to several reasons.
Local elections were held throughout Turkey on March 29, 2009.
Elections were repeated in 7 towns and 23 hamlets.
According to the unofficial results, the Justice & Development (AK) Party won 12 municipalities, the Republican People's Party (CHP) 10 municipalities, the Democrat Party (DP) 3, the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) 2, the Motherland Party (ANAP) 1 and the Democratic Society Party (DTP) 1.
