Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said on Monday that Turkey's support to Afghanistan and Pakistan would continue.
Davutoglu held a press conference and replied to questions before leaving from Ankara's Esenboga Airport for a tour of Pakistan and Afghanistan.
During the conference, Davutoglu said that he would hold talks in Pakistan on June 9-10 and he would visit Afghanistan from June 11 to 13 as part of his tour.
"Turkey has deep historical ties with Afghanistan and Pakistan, moreover, it closely follows the current developments in these two friendly countries and tries to make contributions for the developments to take place," he said.
Replying to a question on whether the results of the European Parliament elections would affect Turkey's EU process, Davutoglu said relations between Turkey and EU would not be affected by the changes in the structure of the European Parliament anymore.
"Whoever our addressees are, we will carry on with our determined stance," he said.
Commenting on the elections in Lebanon as well, Davutoglu said that Turkey appreciated the open and transparent campaign process as well as the democratic atmosphere during the elections in Lebanon.
Pointing to NATO's Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer's visit to Ankara, Davutoglu said that Turkey made important contributions to NATO and it was interested in all the developments taking place within the organization.
Regarding Afghanistan and Pakistan's collaboration against Taliban as well, Davutoglu said that these two countries' destinies could not be separated from each other.
