AMMAN, Nov 30 (AFP) - Iraq's Prime Minister Iyad Allawi is to meet with some 120 exiled Iraqi opposition figures in the Jordanian capital on December 8, a coordinator of the gathering told AFP on Tuesday.
"Mr Allawi will chair on December 8 in Amman a meeting of almost 120 Iraqi political personalities in exile representing all the tendencies of the country," the Iraqi coordinator said, on condition of anonymity.
But he ruled out any meeting with members of the opposition which formed part of the ousted regime of Saddam Hussein.
Allawi, who arrived in Amman earlier the same day, was to hold informal meetings Tuesday mainly with representatives of Iraqi tribes and businessmen before heading off Thursday to Berlin and Moscow, he said.
The prime minister is expected in the Russian capital next Monday for a two-day visit.
