KIEV, Nov 30 (AFP) - Ukraine's parliament will not hold a special session Tuesday night as initially planned to consider an opposition motion to dismiss the government of Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovich and replace it with a "popular government," the parliament speaker said.
Volodymyr Litvin said after a meeting of representatives of parliamentary factions that the assembly would meet instead at 10:00 am Wednesday.
Supporters of opposition leader Viktor Yushchenko had called for a special session Tuesday evening to consider a no-confidence motion earlier in the day against Yanukovich, the declared winner of the disputed November 21 presidential election.
Yushchenko has refused to concede defeat, charging the election was stolen from him through ballot fraud.
Earlier Tuesday lawmakers failed to muster sufficient support to pass a no-confidence motion against Yanukovich's government.
