WASHINGTON, Nov 30 (AFP) - US Homeland Security secretary Tom Ridge is expected to announce his resignation on Tuesday, US television networks reported.
For several weeks, Ridge has been expected to leave President George W. Bush's administration, just weeks after the US leader won a second four-year term in the November 2 elections.
Ridge, 59, was at the forefront of the US anti-terror effort after the September 11, 2001 attacks, becoming the first person to hold the position of Homeland Security chief.
Ridge's departure would mark the latest in a cabinet shakeup that has seen Secretary of State Colin Powell, Attorney General John Ashcroft and Commerce Secretary Donald Evans hand in their resignations, as well.
