BRATISLAVA, Nov 30 (AFP) - US car maker Ford Motor Company is planning to build a plant to produce engine components in eastern Slovakia, a government source told AFP Tuesday.
Slovak authorities have refused to comment on a report that appeared in the economic press Tuesday saying Ford planned to invest in the east of the country, insisting details would be available at a news conference on Thursday.
"I will say everything at this press conference," Economy Minister Pavol Rusko told AFP.
"For the moment it is still too early to comment on this information," said Ondrej Zember, spokesman for the Slovak investment agency Sario.
French car maker PSA Peugeot Citroen and South Korean rival Hyundai's Kia division are due to launch production at two factories in Slovakia in the next 18 months.
Volkswagen, Europe's biggest car maker, already has a plant in Bratislava.
