NICOSIA, Nov 30 (AFP) - A small bomb exploded overnight outside the office of a Turkish Cypriot tourism agency in the north of the island's divided capital Nicosia, causing damage but no casualties, police said Tuesday.
The blast, which blew out the windows of the Polatkan tourism agency, was believed to have been caused by a percussion bomb designed to make a loud noise rather than cause major damage.
There was no official word on who could be behind the attack.
The Polatkan tourism agency is the first Turkish Cypriot company to cooperate with the rival Greek Cypriot community in the south of the eastern Mediterranean island.
It is also known to arrange flights for Greek Cypriots from the breakaway Turkish-held north of the island to Turkey.
Cyprus has been divided since 1974 when Turkish troops invaded and occupied the island's northern third in response to a Greek Cypriot coup aimed at uniting the country with Greece.
A last-ditch UN plan to reunite the island was killed off in April when the the internationally-recognized Greek Cypriot community voted it down even though the Turkish Cypriots gave strong backing to the proposed settlement.
