UN atomic watchdog endorses Iran's nuclear fuel cycle freeze

VIENNA, Nov 28 (AFP) - The UN atomic agency adopted Monday an EU-written resolution endorsing Iran's total freeze of all uranium enrichment activities, the IAEA said.
The resolution was adopted by consensus by the International Atomic Energy Agency's 35-nation board of governors, IAEA spokesman Mark Gwozdecky told reporters.
The adoption ends an intense week of back-door talks after Iran's demand to exempt 20 centrifuges from the freeze threatened to torpedo the agreement.
But Iran backed off on its demand and the resolution did not demand that the Islamic Republic be taken to the UN Security Council for possible sanctions, as the United States had wanted.
