Iraq's oil production dips due to maintenance in south

BASRA, Iraq, Nov 25 (AFP) - Crude production from southern Iraq was cut by half due to maintenance work carried out by the US firm Halliburton, a source from the South Oil Company said Thursday.
"Production dropped from 1.8 million barrels per day to 950,000 barrels per day due maintenance work by Halliburton on an underwater pipeline leading to the Basra and Khor Al-Amaya," the source said on condition of anonymity.
Pipeline 30 runs underwater off the coast of Basra and the Fao peninsula, but the source could not specify when the work would be completed and production may return to its normal level.
The oil industry is Iraq's main source of income and relentless attacks on its infrastructure have slowed the economic recovery of the war-torn country.
