Islamic Research Center Opens Library In Istanbul

ISTANBUL - The library of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) Research Center for Islamic History, Art and Culture (IRCICA) was opened at the Yildiz Palace in Istanbul on Sunday.
Speaking at the inauguration of the library, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said, "this library is the sign of importance attached by a huge geography to knowledge, science and books. Muslim scholars considered knowledge their missing asset and dedicated their lives to search for it."

"This library includes some 70 thousand books written in 140 different languages. There are also 1,500 maps and plans. It also hosts the first translation of the holy book of Koran in Latin dated 1550," he said.

Culture, Youth & Social development Abd al-Rahman Muhammad al-Uwais of the United Arab Emirates was also in attendance at the inauguration.
