President Gul Addresses Aleppo University

DAMASCUS - Turkish President Abdullah Gul said on Saturday that peace should be restored among Palestine, Syria and Israel for peace in the Middle East.
Addressing a conference at Aleppo Univesity in Syria, Gul said, "this problem will not be solved till Palestine establishes its own independent state. Peace should be restored soon. It is wrong to put pressure on one party to restore peace. Everybody should do his best."

Underlining that role of the United States was very important for restoration of peace in the Middle East, Gul said statements of the U.S. President Barack Obama was encouraging on the matter.

Commenting on regional problems Gul said, "I believe that Iran's nuclear problem should be resolved through peaceful means. Similarly, relations among Arab countries are very important. Arabs should resolve the problems acting altogether."

Gul said Turkey attached high importance to restoration of stability in the Middle East, "some people think EU is an alternative to the Middle East. This is out of question."

Gul said relations between Turkey and Syria should be example to the other countries.
