Baykal: While Greece Raises Its Flag On Islets Out Of Its Sovereignty, Turkish Government Remains Silent

ANKARA (AA) - Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Deniz Baykal said on Tuesday, ''while Greece raises its flag on islets and rocks out of its sovereignty, the Turkish government remains silent. We expect the government to make a statement as soon as possible.''
     Speaking at a parliamentary group meeting of CHP, Baykal said, ''the islets are close to Kardak. Greece cannot claim these islets and rocks. All diplomatic and judicial circles accepted Turkey's rightfulness during the Kardak crisis. Today, while Greece raises its flag on islets and rocks out of its sovereignty, the Turkish government remains silent. We expect the government to make a statement as soon as possible. The issue should be brought onto agenda of the next meeting of the National Security Council.''
    
     -DEVELOPMENTS IN FALLUJAH-
     ''Recent developments in Fallujah city of Iraq are unacceptable under any condition. Acts of the United States in Fallujah contradict all values of the humanity. Peace cannot be provided with bombardment. Meanwhile, number of Turkish drivers who were killed in Iraq increased to 64. Our government has done nothing so far. Turkey has been watching developments without doing anything,'' he said.
    
     -PEACEFUL SOLUTION IN PALESTINE-
     Referring to developments in Palestine following demise of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, Baykal said, ''we wish that Palestine will elect its new leader in a democratic election. Some circles claimed that Arafat's presence prevented a peaceful solution in the region. Now, we will see whether his demise will be adequate to provide peace. Also, new leader of Palestine should assume a clear attitude against acts of violence and terrorism.''
