ANKARA (AA) - Bad weather conditions have been affecting Turkey over the last three days, with heavy snow and ice disrupting transports in many regions of the country.
Primary and high schools were recessed at least for two days and many village roads closed due to snow in eastern and central regions of Anatolia.
A 63-year old man froze to death near Feke town of southern province of Adana yesterday (Monday). Meanwhile, an unidentified homeless man who was in his 60s froze to death today (Tuesday) in Konya city of central Anatolia.
The temperature fell below zero in almost all regions of Turkey and the depth of the snow reached 6 centimeters in Istanbul and 40 centimeters in Pinarbasi town of Kayseri city in central Anatolia.
The central parts of Anatolia are the most exposed to heavy snow with eastern regions. Tokat, Sivas, Nevsehir, Kirsehir, Nigde, Denizli, Eskisehir, Kayseri, Konya and Yozgat are facing heavy snow which is closing many village roads. Teams are actually trying to open the closed village roads.
According to weather forecasts, cold temperatures and snow will continue for the next couple of days while the southern and western parts of Turkey are expected to see rain.
