LEFKOSA - ''Turkish Cypriots fulfilled their responsibility for a just and lasting solution in the island. Now international community should keep its promises and respond positively to request of Turkish Cypriots for integration with the world,'' said Turkish State Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullatif Sener on Monday.
Sener delivered a speech during celebrations for the 21st anniversary of foundation of the Turkish republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) in Lefkosa.
''Turkish Cypriots and Turkey want peace. Turkish Cypriot people overcame big obstacles on the path to freedom and took a very important decision on November 15th. Since that date, the TRNC has become the symbol of peace and stability in the island,'' said Sener.
Sener noted, ''Turkish Cypriots recently voted yes to UN peace plan. Greek Cypriots, with the guidance of their leader, voted no to solution and a new partnership with Turkish Cypriots. Following referendum on April 24th, everybody learned who wants solution and who does not.''
''Promises should be kept. Things which have been done until today are not satisfactory,'' he added.
Sener said, ''Turkish Cypriots complied with the call of international community. Now, international community has to respond request of Turkish Cypriots to integrate with the world.''
