ANKARA - Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Monday, ''we will maintain our efforts for lifting of restrictions imposed on Turkish Cypriot people for years without losing our trust in fair and lasting peace and compromise.''
Prime Minister Erdogan sent a congratulatory message to Prime Minister Mehmet Ali Talat of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) to mark the 21st anniversary of foundation of the TRNC.
In his message, Prime Minister Erdogan said, ''TRNC is an element of peace and stability both in the island and region. Turkey has been expending efforts to provide a fair and lasting peace in the island on the basis of facts.''
''We appreciate Turkish Cypriot people's will for peace and compromise. We will maintain our efforts for lifting of restrictions imposed on Turkish Cypriot people for years without losing our trust in fair and lasting peace and compromise. Turkey will continue supporting the TRNC in its development process. Turkey and the TRNC will act together to accelerate its development process and to increase prosperity of Turkish Cypriot people,'' Prime Minister Erdogan added.
