SAKARYA - Japanese carmaker Toyota's overseas shipments from its Turkey plant plunged more than 57 percent in the first three months of 2009.
Toyota Turkey manufactured 15,831 cars and shipped 18,061 cars, including stocks, in the first three months of this year. This figure was 42,430 in the same period of 2008.

Earlier this month, Toyota suspended manufacturing at its plant in northwestern Turkey till April 15 due to slump in demand.

The Japanese carmaker exported 119,586 cars in 2008 and 154,386 cars in 2007.
