President Mehmet Ali Talat stated that the Turkish Cypriot people who supported policies accepted by the international community and ran activities within the framework of these policies, face international isolation, adding that this was an unjust situation and harmed the psychology of the Turkish Cypriot people.
The President's words came during a visit paid to him by the Turkish Jewish Community.
Speaking during the visit, the President of the Turkish Jewish community based in Istanbul, Silvio Ovadia expressed his community's readiness to support the Turkish Cypriot people in any way possible.
In the meeting, President Talat also drew attention to the Turkish Cypriot side's willingness for a peaceful settlement despite all the negative developments, which caused by the Greek Cypriot side's attitude. Talat continued saying "we are deeply grateful to you and for the support you have shown us along the way. You have also supported us in the international arena.I am extremely pleased."
PM Soyer Receives Turkish Jewish Community President.
Receiving the President of the Turkish Jewish Community in Istanbul, Prime Minister Soyer told about the good and efficient relations between the Muslim Turks and Jews in the Ottoman times and also the aggravation of the relations , adding that, the secular and democratic Turkish Cypriot people who showed love and respect to all humanity showed the same love and respect to the jewish people as well.
PM Soyer also stated that finding a lasting and mutually acceptable solution to the Cyprus problem, and removing the obstacles in front of Turkey's EU membership process would constitute a peace example for the peoples of the Middle East where existed diversity in language and religion.
LEADERS TO COME TOGETHER AGAIN ON FRIDAY
The negotiations aiming at finding a comprehensive solution to the Cyprus problem will continue on Friday.
President Mehmet Ali Talat and Greek Cypriot leader Demetris Christofias will come together at the at the UN Special Representative's residence in the buffer zone.
The two leaders are expected to discuss EU Matters for the last time on Friday. The next chapter in the negotiations will be "Economy".
