Turkish P.M. Says Promises Made To Northern Cyprus Have Not Been Kept

ISTANBUL - Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Friday that promises made by the international community to Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) had not been kept.
Speaking at a conference about Turkish women from the establishment of republic to the European Union (EU), Erdogan touched on developments regarding Cyprus, and said that 68 percent of TRNC voted in favor of the (UN Secretary General Kofi) Annan`s plan (aiming to reunify the island), while 85 percent of the Greek Cypriot side voted against it (in April 24th simultaneous referenda).
Erdogan said, ``promises made to TRNC have not been kept. Economic and transportation isolation still continues. Cultural and educational isolation also continues. Despite all these, we are standing firm on our feet. We now tell them (international community) to take steps, and then see how we can solve the issue.``
Touching on developments in Turkey, Erdogan said, ``Turkey had entered an unreturnable rehabilitation and development process. And, we will continue this process determinedly.``
